Dear members,
In July 2006, Ti-Ratana Welfare Society offered to house 22 stray dogs which were about to be put to sleep by the Subang Jaya Municipal Council at their animal pound in Puchong Jaya.
When the dogs were first brought to Ti-Ratana they were skinny, hurt and terrified of humans. With the support of the Malaysian National Animal Welfare Foundation (MNAWF) and with the medical care provided by the Animal Medical Centre, the animals were nursed back to health by the children of Ti-Ratana Welfare Home.
The dogs were then put through three months of basic obedience training which was done by some of the Ti-Ratana children who were guided by a team of dog trainers (Danny Vanhoutte, Lily Chong, Munisamy Govindaraju and Richard Erne) coordinated by Wellington Ho.
The dogs are now healthy and well-trained and will make perfect pets for any home. Ti-Ratana Advisor, Venerable K. Dhammaratana, is very happy with the outcome of this programme as it has not only saved the dogs but also instilled compassion in the hearts of the children.
Ti-Ratana Welfare Society will be holding an open house this Sunday for the public to adopt these dogs as pets. You are invited to attend this open house which will also feature many other activities. There will be a panel of veterinarians on duty who will help to give medical advice to those whose pets are having medical problems. There will also be a panel of dog trainers on duty who will advice on behavioral problems with dogs.
Details of the open house are as follows:-
